Healthy Banana & Cinnamon Flapjack

This healthy snack is very easy and quick to make and supplies your body with necessary nutrients and vitamins.  Its main ingredient – oats, helps to reduce “bad” cholesterol levels and high amount of soluble fibre leaves the sensation of fullness for a longer period of time. Therefore it reduces food cravings and hunger.  It is a perfect healthy snack on the go or a great diet lunch.

 

Ingredients – serving size for 2 people (70kg ideal bodyweight, physically active):

  • 2 tablespoons of spread (we used the spread which has got 70% less saturated fat than butter, does not contain hydrogenated fat and suitable for baking)
  • 8 tablespoons of oats (80g)
  • 1.5 scoops of vanilla flavour whey protein (1 scoop contains 18.5g of good quality protein, 2.25g of carbohydrates and only 1.5g of fat)
  • 1 banana (150g)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F
  2. Place the spread into a saucepan and heat until it has melted. Switch off the heat
  3. Put the oats, vanilla flavour whey protein, cinnamon and banana into melted spread and mix well
  4. Pour the mixture into a small baking tin (place baking parchment before that)
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until the flapjack is golden brown
  6. Let it cool. Then slice into squares. Enjoy!

Approximate Nutritional Information:

Protein – 21g per person, high quality whey protein, suitable for vegetarians
Carbohydrate – 45g per person, high in dietary fibre, will make you full for longer
Fat – 9 g of fat per person, low in saturates and high in Omega 3 and 6

Total calories – 345 kcal per person
